Introduction

At ArchiRoutes, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website and use our services. Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the site.

Information We Collect

Personal Data

When you register for an account, we may collect personally identifiable information, including:

  • Name and email address
  • Username and password
  • Profile information (optional: avatar, bio, location)
  • Content you create (routes, reviews, photos, audio guides)

Usage Data

We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use, or navigate our website:

  • IP address and browser type
  • Device information and operating system
  • Pages visited and time spent on pages
  • Referring URLs and clickstream data

Location Data

With your permission, we may collect location data to provide location-based features such as nearby buildings and personalized route recommendations.

Artificial Intelligence Processing

To enhance your experience and make content accessible to a global audience, ArchiRoutes uses AI-powered services to process user-submitted content. Specifically:

  • Automatic Translation: Review text you submit may be automatically translated into up to 7 languages (English, German, Spanish, French, Chinese, Arabic, Russian) using Google Gemini AI. Translations are stored on our servers and displayed to other users.
  • Audio Guide Generation: Review text may be converted into audio using Google Gemini Text-to-Speech (TTS). Generated audio files are stored in our infrastructure and made available as audio guides within the platform.
  • Content Moderation: Submitted reviews may be analysed by AI to check for inappropriate or harmful content before publication.

Third-party AI provider: The above features are powered by Google Gemini API (Google LLC). By submitting a review, you acknowledge that the text of your review will be transmitted to Google's servers for processing in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

AI-generated translations and audio are clearly labelled within the platform. Only the textual content of your review is sent for processing — your personal data (name, email, etc.) is never included in AI requests.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Three different things are usually lumped together under “cookies”. Here is what each of them is on this site, and which one you get to decide about.

Sign-in, and nothing else

If you create an account, our authentication provider (Supabase) stores a session cookie in your browser so that you stay signed in between pages. Without it the site cannot tell who you are, so there is no choice to make here: it is set only after you sign in, and it disappears when you sign out.

Our own page counter

We count how often a page is opened, how long it stays open and how far it is scrolled. This counter stores nothing in your browser at all. It does not keep your IP address or your browser string either: both are turned into an irreversible hash whose salt is regenerated every day, which means yesterday’s visit cannot be matched to today’s, not even by us. It tells us that a page was read; it cannot tell us by whom.

Google Analytics, only if you allow it

Google Analytics is the one that does set cookies and does recognise returning visitors, so we load it only after you say yes on the bar at the bottom of the page. Until then the script is not on the page at all. It tells us which countries and which pages people arrive for, and it connects our search statistics with the rest of the picture. Google processes that data under its own privacy policy. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat that as a no and never ask.

Change your mind

Your answer is kept in your browser, not on our servers, and you can change it here at any time. Clearing your browser storage also clears it, and we will ask again.

Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access to your personal data
  • Correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Restriction of processing
  • Data portability
  • Object to processing
  • Withdraw consent at any time

To exercise these rights, please contact us at info@archiroutes.com
